Environmental Initiatives
Each Tosoh FineChem factory is located within or adjacent to the Tosoh Nanyo Plant, and as a member of the Tosoh Group, we are promoting the reduction of environmental impact.At Tosoh Finechem, water is used as raw material and water in the process of producing chemical products, and wastewater is generated from the factory.Regarding water quality conservation, the Seto Inland Sea Environmental Conservation Special Measures Law and agreed values with local governments apply, and in order to comply with these standards, we have established and managed even stricter voluntary control values.There were no cases in which the legally regulated values were exceeded in fiscal 2022.
Initiatives to Create Value
Recently, there has been a movement to tighten regulations on fluorine compounds, mainly in Europe (PFAS regulations, etc.).Trifluoroiodomethane (CF3I), which we mass-produced using our proprietary manufacturing method, has a short atmospheric lifetime of 0.005 years and low GWP, so it has a low environmental impact and is one of the few fluorine-based materials that can comply with these regulations.We are currently developing new uses for CF3I, such as flame-retardant gas for magnesium casting. We will continue to take on the challenge of creating innovation by combining technologies, and will contribute to the realization of a sustainable society.

01Initiatives for safety and stable operations
The safety results for fiscal 2022 were 1 accident (abnormal phenomenon) and 1 work-related accident, and this is the second year in a row that accidents have occurred. Our goal is zero accidents and zero disasters, and we will continue to work toward safe and stable operations without compromise. Our company's slogan is "Safety begins with a well-ventilated workplace," and we conduct daily zero-accident calls and point-and-call to raise safety awareness. Additionally, in order to enhance communication between employees and management and create an open environment, the president visits the control room (monthly) and meetings are held to exchange opinions between top executives and managers. By sharing issues and implementing drastic measures, we are leading to safe and stable operations.
02Social contribution activities
Our company conducts various activities as part of its social contribution activities.
Since 2018, our company has been participating in the Sun Festa Shinnanyo, the largest festival in the region, by presenting the Tosoh Finechem Mikoshi. While neighboring companies participate, our company serves as the main every year, and as a team including Tosoh Finechem, we do our best to make the festival more exciting.Other activities include Clean Up My NANYO, which cleans up nearby parks and roads, and "TRY!", which holds on-site classes and science events for nearby elementary and junior high school students. We interact with local people by participating in activities.
03Health management initiatives
Our company was certified as a "Yamaguchi Health Management Company"* in fiscal 2023.For certification, we conduct health examinations and stress checks for all employees, completely separate smoking areas within the company, and promote comprehensive health checkups.
In fiscal 2023, we introduced a new blood pressure measuring machine and medical check equipment that allows anyone to measure their own brain age, etc., as if it were a game.
* Yamaguchi Health Management Company is an award system in which health promotion efforts are scored, and those who achieve a certain level of evaluation are certified by Yamaguchi Prefecture.
Strengthening Complaince
Our officers and employees comply with the provisions of the Tosoh Group behavioral guidelines, and each and every one of them practices compliance in an honest and fair manner, with high ethical standards.
For this reason, we conduct regular compliance education centered on the compliance committee we have established within the company.
In addition, we have established compliance and harassment consultation desks both inside and outside the company to prevent compliance violations and make prompt corrections, and have established a system that makes it easy to report and seek advice.
Tosoh Finechem Co., Ltd. received the "Silver Medal" in June 2024 in the sustainability evaluation by France's EcoVadis. EcoVadis' sustainability assessment is comprehensively conducted in four areas: the environment, labor and human rights, ethics, and sustainable material procurement. The Silver Medal is awarded to the top 15% of over 100,000 evaluated companies around the world (based on the scorecard effective in 2024). Our company will continue to contribute to the development of a sustainable society through our business activities.
